In other parenting news, last night I realized I have raised a teenaged son who could properly (*) use the word ‘peckish’

WOW. 2 days after I had really good conversations with my young adult daughter about some of her memories of me as a dad (and my limitations and screwups), I started reading bell hooks' book the will to change: men, masculinity and love.
I didn’t even make it out of the preface without tearing up
As of this morning, I have outlasted 4 separate neurologists who have been my migraine treatment specialists.
The most recent one is leaving patient practice to go into research.
On one hand, I’m happy they’ve all been able to retire; other hand, it stinks to start new even in the same office
